AKHA Vacant Seats: IGP Orders Immediate Removal Of CP Abang … As H.M. Kimo Takes Over

By UbongAbasi Ise

Following security concerns and chaos that greeted the premises of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in Uyo on Monday, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has withdrawn CP John Bassey Abang as Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police for reasons not unconnected to the instability at the State House of Assembly.

IGP Idris yesterday ordered the removal of CP John Abang who was recently posted to the State as the Commissioner of Police, while appointing  CP Hyelasinda Musa Kimo as a replacement.
The appointment of CP Kimo, according to Police signal from the Force Secretary dated Tuesday, 20th November, 2018, was with immediate effect.
Media report has strongly linked Mr. John Abang to Monday ‘s pandemonium at Udo Udoma Avenue as he was said to have ordered the immediate withdrawal of police personnel attached to the five House members purportedly dismissed by the Assembly’s Speaker , Barr. Onofiok Luke, which apparently led to easy harassment and manhandling of Mr. Idongesit Ituen, a House member representing Itu State Constituency while subsequently easing way for the speaker's declaration of the seats belonging to the five lawmakers that recently moved from the camp of the PDP to APC as vacant.
The embattled lawmakers include Idongesit Ituen ( Itu); Nse Ntuen ( Essien Udium); Gabriel Toby (Ika/Etim Ekpo); Otobong Ndem (Mkpat Enin);  and Victor Udofia (Ikono),
The five lawmakers are basing their decampment on grounds of unduly coalition of the PDP with strange 37 political parties to form Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP.
