Over 5000 People Dump PDP For APC

By UbongAbasi Ise Over 5000 persons under the aegis of Ibom Unique Assembly, IUA, decamped PDP in favour of APC, Saturday in Uyo. Elder Inemesit Essien, the National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group made this known to our reporter in Uyo, shortly after the group rose from her meeting at Udoumana Avenue, Uyo. Beaming with an air of confidence, Essien spoke with assurance that the group will do political exploits for the realization of the emergence of Obong Nsima Ekere as the governor of Akwa Ibom state in 2019. "We will work tirelessly to ensure that our Principal, Obong Nsima Ekere, emerges as governor of Akwa Ibom state come 2019," Elder Essien told our reporter. Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Gets New Executives, Akpara Patrick Udofia Emerges President

In line with her constitution, the foremost socio-cultural group, “Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio”, has elected new national executives to man the affairs of the organization. The election which was adjudged by observers to be free and fair took place last Sunday 10 th June, at the organization’s International Secretariat, along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital. The outcome of the election saw Akparawa Patrick E. Udofia as the new President of the organization and Akparawa (Otuekong) Udo Festus as the Vice President I. By UbongAbasi Ise Should the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel win re-election next year, he is likely to stop tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, from plying major roads in Uyo metropolis, a competent source revealed to our correspondent yesterday. This plan ahead, raise fears among commuters in the State. As a way of reducing gridlocks that characterize major roads in the capital city, a high-ranking official in the state Ministry of Transport and Petroleum Resources who did not want his name in prints, said Akwa Ibom State Government may force commercial tricycles out of major roads in Uyo to give way for taxis, buses, and minibuses. The major roads, according to him, would include Abak Road (Olusegun Obasanjo Way), Aka Road, Ikot Ekpene Road, Nwaniba Road, Oron Road and Wellington Bassey Way. The source added that keke Napep may only be allowed to operate only in the streets and outskirts of Uyo according to how they are arranged into associations.
