Where Does Dakkada Propaganda Leaves Akwa Ibom?

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise “Some of the mankind's most terrible misdeeds have been committed under the spell of certain magic words or phrases” – James Bryant Conant Every government administration, like humans, craves popularity and would not waste time in inventing their own buzzword that is strong enough to win them popular admiration. Akwa Ibom people, on 23rd Septembr, 2015, were thrilled at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium during a ceremony where the so-called Dakkada philosophy was unveiled with pomp and glamour. The entire recitals of dakadda buzzword charged the entire state to rise up to greatness. As years roll by, the governed rise up in their own capacity, but their government hibernates, perhaps gone apnoea.   Months ago, Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, the Chairman of Cross River Basin Development Authority, CRBDA, had made a very apt press comment on the sticky banking situation of Akwa Savings and Loans Limited. He pointed that many traders at Urua Nka market in Eke

Udom, Civil Servants On War Path ...Over Unpaid Entitlements

The recent claim by the Akwa Ibom State Government that it has so far promoted over 20,000 civil servants in the State since the inception of the present administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel has attracted the wrath of Civil Servants and retired primary school teachers. The workers in the State employ have therefore spoiled for a showdown if their entitlements that follow promotion are not paid.  It would be recalled that the Head of Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, had during an interactive meeting with Senior Civil Servants from level 13 – 17 claimed that “over 20,000 workers have been promoted, 5,000 secondary school teachers and 3,000 primary school teachers employed.”  But while reacting to the claim, some workers in the State employ chided the administration, saying that it is a false claim to attract the attention of workers as the 2019 general election approaches.  One of the workers who gave his name simply as Edidiong told our correspondent at the State Secreta

You Are Enslaving A’Ibom Women – APC Tells Udom

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State has again lashed out at Governor Udom Emmanuel saying his government has coerced Akwa Ibom women to take to the street in the name of protest, an act the party describes as modern-day slavery. In an electronic statement made by its State Publicity Secretary and released to The Sensor weekend, the APC expressed disappointment over the Akwa Ibom State government’s inability to maintain traffic lights, fill potholes and control flooding but resorts to forcing peoples’ wives and mothers to streets in the name of protest in a matter that has no relevance to good governance. “It is incomprehensible and very disappointing to notice that a government that cannot maintain common road traffic lights, potholes, control flooding in the state etc could go this far in arrogating to itself the obscene charades of coercing peoples' wives, mothers, and indeed the great women of this state on streets in the name of
