Invasion Of Assembly With Thugs: DIG Ekpoudom Slams Gov Udom ...Says Gov Cannot Direct IGP To Transfer CP

Image
A retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Prince Udom Udo Ekpoudom has lambasted the Akwa Ibom state Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for compromising the peace and security of the State by encouraging the activities of thugs who invaded the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Monday. He stated this in a chat with our reporter.  “I have been raising alarm about how a particular chieftain of PDP in my local government has been involved in thuggery and now it is clear that it is a policy of the PDP in the State.  How could the Governor go and take-over the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly with thugs and ensure APC lawmakers were harassed. It is simply unbelievable that our State once known for peace and development can suddenly enter the world book of records as a state where those in power now employ thugs to shamefully attack the opposition. It is condemnable that Governor Emmanuel can go down to the extent of taking thugs to the House of Assembly in order to attac

Udom Flares Up Against Akpabio

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has taken to twitter to tongue-lash 'a former governor' suspected to be Senator Godswill Akpabio, his estranged benefactor. Although the Governor Emmanuel carefully avoided mentioning his predecessor's name in the tweet, it was apparent that he was referring to Senator Akpabio as the post linked him to the tension experienced in the state lately.  “The mastermind of these crises include, people that this state gave the opportunity to become what they never dreamt they could become. People that other people gave the opportunity to become a commissioner for 6 years and a Governor for 8 years making it 14 years,” the tweet reads. It would be recalled that Mr. Akpabio served as the Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources;  the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as the Lands and Town Planning  for a cumulative period of over  five years under the government of A

AKHA Saga: Udom, Onofiok Instigated Crisis – Says APC

Image
-Udom's Call For CPs Transfer Unreasonable        -APC Youths Warn PDP Thugs The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State says attempts by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Gov Udom Emmanuel to create the impression that APC caused the crisis rocking the House of Assembly is not only false but a weak art that can be easily discovered. The State Chairman of APC, Mr. Ini Okopido in company of other Party excos and officials made this known during a briefing at the Party House, yesterday.  Okopido noted that it was the Governor, Onofiok Luke and the PDP that were the aggressors because they refused to honour a court order restraining Luke from declaring the seats of 5 APC members vacant.  According to Okopido the Governor instigated the crisis in the House of Assembly in order to divert attention from his poor performance saying “As Obong Victor Attah noted in his latest book, “it is well with my soul” Udom will be the only Governor in the history of Akwa Ib

Even The Walls Have Eyes

Image
By Emmanuel Inyangetor The twin thought of 'being made a Governor' and 'becoming a Governor' has remained and will continue to be the prickly nightmare of Governor Udom Emmanuel as he journey towards the avoidable reality of his undoing. Udom apparently misfired and lost his bearing the day he succumbed to the ungodly overtures of his helmsmen to deal a hemlock portion on his erstwhile Boss - Chief Godswill Akpabio, with a view to swapping places and turning him into a Lilliputian. The power play conspiracy which started long before the 'Manager Governor' took his oath of office in May, 2015 was evidently thick, laced with ethnic bias , cupped in a bronze chalice of envy; it was a no holds barred affair. The mission was clear and concise: Akpabio must be shot down from his high flying horse of fame and commanding influence. He must be made to kiss the dust and maniacally kept aground.   Apparently caught in such an unholy web of conspiracy to destro

Uyo Senate Seat: Udoedehe Draws Battle Line With OBA

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise After declaring support for Obong Nsima Ekere’s governorship ambition, the former Akwa Ibom Northeast Senator, Dr. John James Akpanudoehe, has stated his commitment towards ensuring that the All Progressives Congress, APC, takes over the seat at the Red Chambers by winning the next year’s Akwa Ibom Northeast senatorial election. Senator Akpanudoedehe was quoted by the media to have played down the election-winning ability of the incumbent Senator, Obong Bassey Albert, who is seeking reelection to the upper legislative chamber under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.   When reportedly asked how he is going to win Uyo Senatorial District for his party, he said: “Who is Senator Bassey Albert? Now that we have reconciled our interests, watch what will happen in days ahead. I will prove a point in Uyo Senatorial District.” Senator Bassey Albert will be battling the APC senatorial candidate, Mr. Bassey Etim a.k.a. Bafil in the forthcoming e

Naming Of Airport After Attah Is Our Idea – APC Tells Udom

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has come out to challenge the incumbent state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on the originality of the idea to name Akwa Ibom airport after ex-governor Victor Attah. In a statement released on Monday and signed by the APC’s State Chairman, Mr. Ini Okopido, the party said the immortalization of Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah by naming the state-owned international airport after him was a brainchild of their governorship candidate, Obong (Dr.) Nsima Ekere, who made the pronouncement as far back as September this year. “We however wish to quickly note that it was indeed our governorship candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere, who first mooted the idea of honouring Obong Attah in this manner as far back as last September. At a rally in Uyo then, Mr. Ekere had announced that he would, on assumption of office as governor next year, name the airport after our beloved former governor, now deservedly regarded as the fat

SURPRISE! Onofiok Luke Links Up With Nsima Ekere

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke, has been pictured sharing some nice moments with the APC gubernatorial flag-bearer, Obong Nsima Ekere, during a child dedication service at Winners Chapel in Uyo Sunday. The pictures of the duo, popularly perceived as being bitter political rivals, surfaced on Nsima Ekere’s twitter handle showing the two having apparent harmless conversion at where they were closely seated at the front row. Dr. Amadu Attai, the governorship running mate to Obong Ekere, was also captured in the shot as he seemed to be concentrating on activities at the podium. Ekere later took to his twitter handle, tweeting the pictures that have so far received many hits from his followers. Captioning the pictures, the tweet reads: “*POLITICS ASIDE*With Rt Honourable Onofiok Luke and APC Stakeholders this morning at Winners Chapel, Uyo for the dedication of Mr. Michael Etim James' (aka MacJoe) daughter.”

Attah, Akpabio, Udom And Ingratitude

Image
By UbongAbasi Ise “If the Cause is forgotten, it gets angry” – Ibibio Proverb Beyond the week-long celebration of Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah’s 80 th Birthday anniversary that were well-attended by most of the glitterati of this world, there are certain disturbing facts that are unnecessarily stirred from quiescence. Perhaps, it could have been very convenient to have finished the all-week wining and dining in a cautious manner without having to wake up the feral ghost of history from its slumber. In this piece, I wouldn’t love to go back to fully discuss Attah’s All Is Well With Soul book launched on Tuesday 20 th of November, 2018 which seemed to have been motivated by the former governor’s own wistfulness. Nonetheless, the work is laudable to a reasonable extent, but there are some contestable facts here and there. I can’t help admiring the author’s bluntness and forcefulness. While he dedicated some pages to comment on the phantom, falsity state of industrialization as fl
