The incumbent Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has renamed the Ibom International Airport after former Governor Obong Victor Attah thus playing a fast one on Obong Nsima Ekere, the 2019 gubernatorial candidate under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, who earlier promised to immortalize Obong Attah with the edifice should he get elected into office as a state governor next year.

The declaration by Governor Emmanuel was made weekend during the banquet organized by the Akwa Ibom State Government to honour  Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah who clocked 80 last week Tuesday.

He also said that once he is assume the leadership of the state he will rename the international airport in the state after Obong Victor Attah to immortalize him as a reward for envisioning the landmark project, while Late Obong Akpan Isemin, the former governor of the state, who was popular in fighting “etok-etok syndrome,”  or inferiority complex, would have in his honour, Ibom Tropicana named after him should he makes it to the Hilltop Mansion come 29th May, 2019.
