You Are Enslaving A’Ibom Women – APC Tells Udom

By UbongAbasi Ise

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State has again lashed out at Governor Udom Emmanuel saying his government has coerced Akwa Ibom women to take to the street in the name of protest, an act the party describes as modern-day slavery.
In an electronic statement made by its State Publicity Secretary and released to The Sensor weekend, the APC expressed disappointment over the Akwa Ibom State government’s inability to maintain traffic lights, fill potholes and control flooding but resorts to forcing peoples’ wives and mothers to streets in the name of protest in a matter that has no relevance to good governance.
“It is incomprehensible and very disappointing to notice that a government that cannot maintain common road traffic lights, potholes, control flooding in the state etc could go this far in arrogating to itself the obscene charades of coercing peoples' wives, mothers, and indeed the great women of this state on streets in the name of protest in a matter that has no relevance to good governance which the people of this state had been blatantly denied for the past three years and five months.
Addressing Akwa Ibom women, the APC said, “we sympathize with you because we know it is not your will.
It was foisted on you. It is so unfortunate that the government that you voted for in 2015 has decided to task you this much to the extent of demeaning your glorious majesty endowed by All Wise God.”
The statement maintained that the APC, as a party, holds integrity of women in highest esteem, and therefore condemns in totality every attempt by Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration to smuggle a new form of slave trade into Akwa Ibom State, adding that this will soon stop as modernised slave trade master will be ousted and APC takes over.
Meanwhile, the gubernatorial ambition of Obong Nsima Ekere has continued to receive a boost as women of Uyo Senatorial District were recently received by the wife of the governorship candidate of the APC, Mrs. EseAbasi Nsima Ekere at her husband’s campaign grounds in Uyo. The visiting women promised to mobilize their spouses and children of voting age for the support of Nsima Ekere’s candidacy in 2019.
