The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Essien Udim local government area has recorded another political advantage ahead of 2019 general elections as it received into its fold a prominent business mogul cum politician, Obong Ndifreke Nkanta a.k.a. Eto-Okuk, weekend.
Obong Nkanta, who hails from Ukana Nsasak village in Essien Udim local government area, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, along with hundreds of his supporters and was received by the chieftains of the APC in the area led by the political leader of Ukana East Ward, Mr. Godwin Etokakpan and the former Chairman of Essien Udim local government area, Mr. Christansus Udo.
Addressing the party supporters at his country home, Nkanta said his decision to join the APC was borne out of his quest to join hands with the progressive faithful in moving the state to the next level. He added that he was left with no option other than joining the uncommon transformer, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in working towards bringing the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroot level.
Also speaking, a political leader, Mr. Godwin Etokakpan, said the latest batch of decampees from the opposition PDP in Essien Udim local government area has marked the end of the PDP in the area.
Meanwhile, it was recently gathered from a twitter handle, @APCNigeria, that the entire Chapter and Ward executives of the PDP in Obot Akara local government area had all decamped to the APC alongside thousands of their members. Accordingly, they were received into the APC by the Director General of Nsima Ekere 2019 Governorship Campaign, Abom Tony Esu on Wednesday.
