Ikot Ekpene Stands Still For Akpabio … As Buhari, Nsima Ekere Assured Of 100% Votes

It was all excitement for the constituents of Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial District yesterday as Senator Godswill Akpabio, accompanied by Obong (Dr.) Nsima Ekere, the governorship candidate of All progressive congress, APC, disbursed to the beneficiaries the sum of  N250,000 entrepreneurial and  agricultural grants at an event held in Ikot Ekpene, the headquarters of the Senatorial District.

Akpabio, who is currently representing the senatorial district at the upper chamber of the national legislature, flagged off the entrepreneurial and agricultural cash grants for his constituents yesterday.

In his remark, Senator Godswill Akpabio assured the duo of Obong Nsima Ekere and President Muhammadu Buhari of maximum votes at the polls next year.

“Your Excellency, Nsima Ekere, you need about 850,000 votes to win the governorship election. Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District will give you and President Buhari 500,000 votes. You just need few votes around Uyo Senatorial District and Eket Senatorial District.
"When you go to Abuja, tell Mr. President, if he plans to campaign in Akwa Ibom State, he should remove Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District from his campaign itinerary. His vote is 100% intact. Obong Nsima Ekere, we will do same for your own," he said.


Another eventful moment came when Mr. Amama Aloysius, the former transition chairman of Obot Akara local government, defected with thousands  of supporters from PDP to the APC.

By UbongAbasi Ise Following the application by one of the representatives of the 5,000 sacked secondary school teachers, Mr. Ukeme Anwan, seeking a change of a sole witness in Suit CA/C/362/2018 brought before the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar by the Akwa Ibom State Government, the state Attorney General, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko, was in court on 22nd October 2020 to oppose the application. The matter was adjourned to 24th November 2020 for decisions to be taken on motions. By UbongAbasi Ise Governorship and the state house of assembly elections have come and gone, not without leaving the people of Ukanafun community in mourning, as indigenes were shot while coming out to perform their civic responsibility on Saturday. At polling unit 004 in Ikot Udo Ossiom in Ward 2, Ukanafun local government area, Ubokutom Sampson, a man of 25 years of age, was allegedly shot by a military personnel claimed to have accompanied the stakeholders of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, according to an eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity.   Sampson was later confirmed dead. Another victim of gunshot at the polling unit was a woman, who was simply described as Mrs. Udom. The source claimed she was also shot by the same soldier who opened fire on Ubokutom Sampson.
