PDP Primaries: Udom, AK PDP Fail To Deliver Saraki... Delegates Predict Bad Days Ahead

The recently conducted Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Primaries that saw the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has come and gone but the intrigues on its outcome has continued to linger.

The Sensor authoritatively learnt that Akwa Ibom State delegates led by the Party leader, Governor Udom Emmanuel openly supported the Senate President, Bukola Saraki against the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The source said that the Governor had fraternized with the Senate President which prompted his several visits to the state especially when Senator Godswill Akpabio who was said to have while in PDP, supported Atiku.

The source said that the governor, apart from support from Akwa Ibom, had promised to mobilize support from other States for Saraki. However, despite the support and the promise, Saraki got only 317 votes while Atiku got 1532 votes.

However, Akwa Ibom delegate who gave his name simply as Solomon told The Sensor how Akwa Ibom delegation wasted their votes on Saraki who came in a distance third position.

The visibly angry Solomon, noted that the action of Akwa Ibom delegates was very unfortunate and expressed the fear that if Atiku eventually wins the presidential election, the State may not be carried along in the “politics after election”.
He said, “all of us delegates were made to vote only for Saraki. This means putting all our eggs in one basket. Unfortunately, Saraki did not get the Party's ticket and I fear what would be the fate of Akwa Ibom if Atiku eventually wins as President”.
Meanwhile, criticisms have continued to trail the recent attack on Senator Godswill Akpabio by media aides of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
It would be recalled that the governor's aides had shortly after the failure of Saraki to secure the Party's Presidential ticket which was won by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, flooded the internet with stories that Sen. Akpabio had secretly congratulated the PDP flagbearer with the intention of lobbying for a Vice President slot.
Reacting to the report, Aniebiet Samuel said that it is a frutile insinuation aimed at diverting attention of the people on the emergence of Atiku. He added that rather than the media aides to congratulate Atiku and forge ahead on how to win the general election, they are only busy trying to create something out of nothing on Akpabio.

On his part, Mr. Unyime Effiong said that the governor's media aides are not doing their principal any good in their cooked up information on Senator Akpabio's Vice President bid, rather than focused and promote PDP in a bid to sell the party to the electorates.
