Iniubong Umoren: Saviour Akpan Laments ‘Double-Wahala For Dead Body’
By UbongAbasi Ise
The executive director of COMPPART Foundation for Justice and Peace Building, Saviour Akpan, Esq. has taken a swipe at the Akwa Ibom State government over bad conditions of roads in Oruk Anam local government area, where both Governor Udom Emmanuel’s wife and late Miss Iniubong Umoren hailed from.
Akpan, while speaking during an evening radio programme, Human Rights and You, of the Passion FM 94.5 FM Uyo which was aired some hours after Umoren’s burial on Friday 14th May, 2021, worried over the final condition of Iniuobong Umoren’s corpse after it was made to pass through deplorable routes from Uyo to Nung Ita Ikot Obio Enin Atai in Oruk Anam local government area where the funeral event took place.
Akin to what a Nigerian music legend, Fela Kuti, would say, ‘double wahala for dead body,’ Saviour Akpan said if the body of the young university graduate had gone through torture, then the collapsed roads must have served as hell, lamenting how late Iniubong Umoren was gruesomely murdered, buried in a shallow grave, exhumed and transported through what he described as very terrible road to where her remains were finally interred.
A week later, Mr. Akpan took to the same platform to decry negligence of some rural areas in Oruk Anam, noting that Ikot Obio Nso community in the area has no single electricity pole and therefore remains cut off from modernity. He lamented that such a forgotten community would surprisingly be remembered on elections’ day with electoral materials finding their way to the polling units there.

On Abak local government area, where the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo, comes from, the vocal human rights campaigner described it as G.R.A., which according to him means Governor Rejected Area, apparently because of deplorable roads and lack of power supply.
