Ibibio Group Inaugurates New Exco

Ukai Ibibio, a prominent socio-cultural organization in Akwa Ibom State has constituted new executive council in an epochal ceremony in Uyo over weekend.
The administration of Ukai Ndueso Monday Jackson, which was over five years old, came to an end Saturday afternoon when the new executive council was sworn in, with Ukai Samuel Inyang being the chairman.

Beside Ukai Inyang  who emerged as Chairman (Etubom Ukai Ata-Uko ye Uko in Akwa Esop Ima-Isong Ibibio), other members of the eleven-man executive include Ukai Ifiok Etukho (secretary), Ukai Sunday Nelson (public relation officer); Nsikak Ikpe (public relation officer II);  High Chief Solomon Akpan (treasurer);  Ikwo Akanyinyene(financial secretary); Ata Uko Ntewo (provost); Barr. Ausgustine Edet (legal adviser); Ukai Mfon Okon (welfare);  Ukai Ndifreke Usanga (ex officio I), and Ukai Ndueso Monday Jackson (ex officio II).
Ukai Ibibio, which has membership drawn from the 18 predominant Ibibio local government areas in Akwa Ibom State, is a youth wing of Akwa Esop Ima-isong Ibibio, an apex sociocultural group in the state.
Before transferring the symbol of leadership to his successor, Ukai Ndueso Jackson, in his speech, said he remained the longest serving chairman of the organization having been sworn into office on 17th January 2015, after which he completed two terms with about six month left in the third, but he decided to vacate the office in June 2019 following due consultation with his family members.
He promised to stay committed to the affairs of the organization even after relinquishing his role as the leader.
The newly inaugurated Chairman, Ukai Samuel Inyang, in his acceptance speech, expressed pleasant surprise about his emergence as the Etubom Ukai Ata-Uko ye Uko in Akwa Esop Ima-Isong Ibibio.
He called on immediate past executive members to continue to support the new administration so that Ibibio project would not fail in his hands.
While speaking with our correspondent shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Ukai Samuel Inyang thanked the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for making Ibibio, the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria, to register strong presence in the country.

Inyang also dedicated the achievements of Ukai Ibibio organization to Obong Dr.Essien Ekidem, the Ntisong III of Akwa Esop Ima-isong Ibibio.
The new leader said he would seek to strengthen the group by ensuring that it experience tremendous increase in membership.
“One of those primary aspects of what I will do for Akwa Ibom Imaisong Ibibio is for me to bring in more members that would cut across 18 local government areas in Ibibioland. I will carry out sensitization and make people know what is Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio and what it stands for,” he said.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Effiong, while giving vote of thanks, lauded the outgone chairman, Ukai Ndueso Jackson for making the auspicious event possible, while urging all members of the group to support the new leader, adding that “I have hope that all of us will join hand and support Ukai Samuel  Inyang so that he can take us to the promise land.”
