Police Alerts Public Over Criminals Disguised As Motorists

The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has notified the public on the activities of some criminals who operates under the guise of commercial motorists.
In a statement released recently to the media by SP Odiko MacDon, the Police Public Relations Officer, some motorists now pick and drop passengers from undesignated places within Uyo metropolis to other parts of the State, then rob them of personal effects.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State has been drawn to the criminal activities of some motorists who indiscriminately pick and drop passengers from undesignated places within Uyo metropolis, such as Itam flyover, plaza, IBB round about, etc, to Ikot Ekpene, Eket, Oron and other parts of the State, and end up robbing such passengers at some occasions.” =
According to statement, the Command as part of its crime preventive measures will partner the
National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the State to ensure that all motorists load and drop passengers at designated parks
The police further advises the Members of the public to be vigilant and report every suspicious criminal activity to the nearest police station for prompt action.
