Tower of Ivory Schools Commission Ultra-modern Hospital – As Enomfon House Wins 8th Annual Inter-House Sports Competition

In a bid to continue providing quality education comparable with only what is obtained in developed societies, Tower of Ivory Schools at the weekend added an ultra-modern hospital to its retinue of world class infrastructure.
Commissioning the hospital, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Dr. EmemAbasi Bassey commended the Proprietor/Chairman Board of Governors of the School, DIG Udom Udo Ekpoudom for paying unequalled attention to students welfare, academics and extra-curricular activities.
He said with the facilities in the hospital, the medical and paramedical staff he was convinced that students of the school and staff will enjoy maximum healthcare while they are in school adding that this will lead to improved performance.
The CMD promised to partner with the school to ensure the hospital function optimally.
Speaking at the Commissioning ceremony, the Chairman, Board of Governors, Tower of Ivory Schools, DIG Udom Udo Ekpoudom said the building of the hospital is in line with the vision of the school to offer excellent facilities for high academic achievements in the school.
He noted that the facility which has all the departments required for a functional hospital, also has Doctors, Nurses, lab technologists and other professionals to offer the Services required by students and teachers.

According to him, Tower of Ivory School has achieved another major milestone with the building of the hospital as no other school has such a facility.
He called on the medical staff to be diligent, effective and efficiently manage the facility for the benefit of the students and teachers.
DIG Ekpoudom reiterated that the commitment of the school to providing students and teachers with modern infrastructure such as air conditioned boarding facilities, 21st Century computer laboratory, well stocked laboratories, libraries and sound professional teachers is the reason why the school has continued to lead others in public exams such as WAEC, NECO, Cambridge etc.
DIG Ekpoudom stated that as a true test of the school is leadership in academies, its students get placement in Nigeria and foreign universities after earning high scores.
After the commissioning of the hospital, guest moved over to the Tower of Ivory Schools Mini Stadium to witness the 8th Annual Inter House Sports competition with the theme: “Enhancing Physical and Mental Alertness through Sports”.
Welcoming parents and guests to the inter-house sport competition, DIG Ekpoudom said the school is now noted globally as one which offers children total education
Identifying the place of sport in functional education, he said.
“Here academics is given a prime position, as well as discipline and morals. Our focus is on the holistic training and grooming of students for a balanced life. To achieve this feat, sports are imperative.
This is why we provide the best and latest sporting equipment and facilities in Tower of Ivory Secondary School”.
Explaining that a healthy body facilitated a healthy mind, he noted that “for our students to be mentally alert, they have to be engaged vigorously in sporting activities. Hence, the usefulness of sports can never be over emphasized”.
Listing the importance of sports, he said sports teach team work and problem solving skills, help students build self steem, reduce pressure and stress.
Other benefits of sports according to Ekpoudom is that it improves muscular strength, enables students to learn endurance and manage weight effectively.
Commending parents and teachers for supporting the school in the organization of the inter-house sports competition, DIG Ekpoudom said the event will help students to lead fuller and happier lives which makes them relate better with other people.
According to him, students have been taught to be discipline during the event, obey coaches and abide by the rules and regulations, encouraging competing houses and invited schools to play by the rules and imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.
The chairman on the occasion, Barr. Mfon Ben who is also a parent of the school commended the proprietor of the school, management and staff for their commitment to give students all-round education.
He said sporting activities apart from developing hidden talents of the students also provide avenue to bury grudges and unite.
He called on all participating Houses to obey the rules of the sports and see it more as an avenue to strike friendship and togetherness.
Special guest of honour at the event, Prof. Nathaniel Ohazuruike commended the school for surpassing its original vision on sports by adding the latest infrastructure.
He said parents who send their children to Tower of Ivory Schools are privileged because the students are receiving full benefit of world class education.
Ohazuruike said through the inter-house sports competition the school is helping to locate potential talents among the students adding that in no distant time world champions will emerge from Tower of Ivory Schools.
These were competitions among the houses in field events such as football, basketball and volley ball.
Track events such as 800m, 1500m, 200m, 400m, 4x400m, javelin shot put, discus, long jump among others.
At the end of proceedings, Enomfon House took first position with 171 points, Kufre House scored 166 points to come second, Ebong House earned 146 points to come third while Ayakeme House with 135 points took the 4th position.
There were also invited schools which participated in the 100m dash.
The winners in the Boys Category were NCL which came first, Fortune High School took second while Mcintire Secondary Commercial School came 3rd.
In the Girls category Mcintire Secondary Commercial school came first, followed by NCL which took second and Fortune High School came third.
