Campaign Funds Misappropriation: APC Blasts PDP Over Malicious Information …Says No leader was Reported To EFCC
By UbongAbasi Ise
Given the reports making the rounds in the media claiming
that Nsima Ekere Campaign Organisation was writing the EFCC and the ICPC,
asking them to probe some leaders and elders of the All Progressives Congress,
APC, in Akwa Ibom State for embezzling campaign funds, Eseme Eyiboh, the
Chairman, Information and Strategic Communication committee and spokesperson of
Akwa Ibom state APC Campaign council, has come out to dismiss the claims,
accusing the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, as a brain behind such allegation.
According to a statement released recently to the media, no
APC leader was reported to any anti-corruption agency for campaign funds
embezzlement, maintaining that the writer of the “badly written story” has no
iota of idea of the campaign structure of the APC in Akwa Ibom State as there
is nothing like “Nsima Ekere Campaign Organisation”, which the report purports
to have written to the anti-graft agencies.
The APC campaign committee said the Akwa Ibom APC leaders,
Senator Ita Enang, Senator John Akpanudoedehe and Obong Umana Okon Umana,
mentioned in their report are men of high integrity and honour, whose
contributions to the state, the APC and the campaign cannot in any way be
impugned.
According to the statement, if there are persons and group that really
deserve investigation in respect to the just concluded election, that would be
governor Udom Emmanuel and the PDP.
The statement reads: “We hasten to say that if there are any
persons or group of persons deserving to be investigated by the EFCC and the
ICPC, it is the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr.Udom Emmanuel
and the PDP for throwing caution to the winds and engaging in the most brazen
and criminal brigandage against the treasury of Akwa Ibom State in the scope
and magnitude of vote buying that characterized the 2019 election in the state.
At the appropriate time, the anti-corruption agencies of the federal government
will thoroughly investigate the use of public funds to corruptly buy votes, pay
thugs and INEC during the elections. No criminal act of this state government
shall go unpunished.”
The committee said it was futile for the writer and his
sponsors to try to pitch Nigerians against each other by trying to play up hate
against Miyetti Allah including the Kaduna State government as the campaign
Organisation and the APC candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere did not receive any
donation from either Miyetti Allah or the Kaduna State government, which shows
that the authors of the allegation were deliberately out to misinform the
people.
The APC campaign organization further call on Akwa Ibom
people to ignore the story as it is the usual propaganda sponsored by the
PDP-led state government.
