Obong Nsima Ekere, the Akwa Ibom gubernatorial
candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming election, was
playing host on Monday to delegates from the British High Commission, our
correspondent learnt from his recent tweet.
As indicated in the post, Louise
Edwards and John Kekeh were the prominent members of the team of diplomats received
by the Managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Ekere, who received his guests in
Abuja, hinted that the conversations were centering round the possibility of
having a peaceful, non-violent, issue-based and transparent electioneering in
Akwa Ibom State.
The tweet reads: “it was my
honour to host delegates from the British High Commission, Abuja - in persons
of Louise Edwards and John Kekeh, on Monday; our conversations centered around
consensus building for peaceful, non-violent, issue-based and transparent electioneering
in Akwa Ibom State.”
In a separate tweet, Obong Ekere
stated his commitment to ensure a violent-free campaign and called on other
parties to emulate his peaceful inclination.
“I restated my committed to an
issue-based, non-violent campaign as illustrated in my Manifesto, and called on
other stakeholders to do same,” the tweet reads.
