A’Ibom APC Peeved By PDP
By UbongAbasi Ise
The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of
All Progressives Congress, APC, has been incensed by what it sees as the brazen
stealing of intellectual property of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Obong
Nsima Ekere, by the present state administration under the rivaled Peoples’
Democratic Party, PDP.
Briefing newsmen in Uyo on
Monday, the State Chapter Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ini Okopido, expressed
worries over what he alleged as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s desperation to adopt
wholesale the Obong Nsima Ekere’s blueprint as contained in the manifesto
titled, New Vision For Our Collective
Prosperity, while pointing to how
Mr. Emmanuel rushed to inaugurate a taskforce for the reactivation of the Akwa
Palm Industries in Esit Eket, some,
project enunciated by Nsima Ekere’s in his manifesto.
Okopido stressed that it was
shameful for Governor Udom Emmanuel to inaugurate a taskforce for the
reactivation of the project without due acknowledgement of the owner of the
idea.
He said few weeks ago when the
manifesto was unveiled, Obong Nsima Ekere had declared that he would ensure the
immediate reactivation of the Akwa Palm Industries as one of his priorities
within the first one hundred days in office as Governor in order to open up
thousands of direct and indirect jobs to
Akwa Ibom people.
He further
slammed Mr. Emmanuel for copying Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Buhari’s pet project, Future
Assured Initiative, into his campaign arrangement saying the governor is bereft
of ideas.
“Only last week, our attention
was drawn to the fact that he has also started using the slogan, coined and
authored by First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Future Assured, as his campaign
slogan. While I will not speak on behalf of the First Lady, because she has
very qualified assistants, including lawyers, I believe it is important to
investigate the rightful owner of the copyright of “Future Assured”. He has no
ideas. He has no shame. He has no moral authority to continue to preside over
the affairs of Akwa Ibom State. And come March 2, 2019, Akwa Ibom people will
send him packing,”Okopido said.
The APC Chairman was to express
dismay over the recent damaging activities perpetrated by Udom Emmanuel’s Divine
Mandate Campaign Organisation against his party.
On the recent controversies
generated on the social media, Mr. Ini Okopido accused the Publicity Secretary
of People Democratic Party, PDP,
Comrade Ini Ememobong , for sponsoring the creation of Fake social media
accounts to ruin the image of APC in the state.
“A few days ago, our attention
was drawn to the screenshot of a WhatsApp group, ‘Udom Till 2023,’ where Ini
Ememobong, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, instructed his people to
create a fake APC Account, using key leaders of our party, the APC, to create a
fake, dubious and criminal conversation, purporting our party leaders to be
engaged in criminal activity,” he said.
Okopido further referred to
another screenshot of the fake WhatsApp group chat where the PDP agents claimed
that APC leaders gave NANS president N600,000 to protest against the state
government, describing such action as “pure criminality.”
He called on the Inspector
General of Police and appropriate law enforcement agencies to investigate Ini
Ememobong in order to ascertain whose directives he was implementing through
his unfortunate Whatsapp directive.
