N5,000 Cash Transfer: Nsima Ekere Replies Facebook Critic

By UbongAbasi Ise

It may come as a huge surprise to many social media political freaks as Obong Nsima Ekere took to twitter to give quick, educative response to one Imeh Sylvester who posted a sarcastic comment on Facebook in reaction to the Akwa Ibom State APC governorship candidate’s promise of N5,000 cash transfer to the extremely poor.
A video uploaded on Obong Nsima Ekere’s twitter handle today, has a comment attributed to Imeh Sylvester, a Facebook user, with Obong  Ekere captured in a sitting position, while offering explanation to the troll on his social protection plan.

Sylvester’s post read, “Iya mi! Akwa Ibom State APC Gov. Aspirant Nsima Ekere, is promising 5K for all again oo. Another Next Level of 5K.”
In reply, Obong Nsima Ekere said in the footage, “Now Imeh, the Federal Government is paying N5,000 to the poorest of the poor. It’s one of our social protection policies, and it is doable. I did say before, and I’m saying it again, we can reduce the cost of governance. We can fund all of these social protection programs of government. What’s N5,000? It’s nothing. We can afford it. We can do it, and we will do it.”
The video was associated with a caption in which the APC gubernatorial candidate further emphasized the need to reduce the cost of governance in order to boost the social protection programmes.
“We want to be economical with running government. We want to reduce the cost of governance and fund social protection programmes. This is what we deserve and it is doable,” the tweet reads.
In his manifesto, the governorship candidate puts that when elected into office, his government will capture extremely poor across the state using MDGs/SDGs template, and would thereafter make conditional cash transfers of N5,000 to them.
The manifesto also contained the promise of N5,000 to orphans and poor handicapped persons in addition to skill training, while  promising to donate N100,000 to every multi-birth mother.
Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, will flag off its governorship campaigns on Monday, January 21, 2019 by 10am at the Uyo Township Stadium.
