Eket Campaign Office Inauguration: Nsima Ekere Vows To End Poverty In A’Ibom
By UbongAbasi Ise
The Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial
candidate for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Obong Nsima Ekere, has
declared to banish what he described as extreme poverty in the state should he
wins the forthcoming governorship election.
While addressing his teeming
supporters in Eket on Wednesday during the official inauguration of a
two-storey office complex donated to him by Chief Assam Assam aka Emmaco, the
APC governorship candidate proclaimed2019 as the Year to banish poverty in Akwa
Ibom.
The NDDC boss bemoaned the
systemic starvation and denial of employment opportunities to the citizens of
the state by the incumbent PDP state government and promised to generate
streams of job opportunities for the people to be gainfully employed once he is
voted into office as the state governor.
Ekere, while regretting the
non-payment of bursaries to Akwa Ibom students at the tertiary institutions, said
he will reactivate the bursary scheme as soon as he is sworn into office in May.
Speaking on plight of the state
civil servants, the former state governor said on assumption of duty as
governor, all the entitlements will be paid to them and his government will
ensure that the institution of civil service is improved for optimal
performance.
He sympathized with the civil
servants for nominal promotion given to them as they are compelled by the state
government to sign undertaking that they will not seek salary increment and
promotion arrears on offer of promotion.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate had expressed delight
over the support and massive turnout of Eket people at the event of the office
commissioning.
