Uyo Senate Seat: Udoedehe Draws Battle Line With OBA
By UbongAbasi Ise
After declaring support for Obong
Nsima Ekere’s governorship ambition, the former Akwa Ibom Northeast Senator,
Dr. John James Akpanudoehe, has stated his commitment towards ensuring that the
All Progressives Congress, APC, takes over the seat at the Red Chambers by winning
the next year’s Akwa Ibom Northeast senatorial election.
Senator Akpanudoedehe was quoted
by the media to have played down the election-winning ability of the incumbent
Senator, Obong Bassey Albert, who is seeking reelection to the upper
legislative chamber under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
When reportedly asked how he is
going to win Uyo Senatorial District for his party, he said: “Who is Senator
Bassey Albert? Now that we have reconciled our interests, watch what will
happen in days ahead. I will prove a point in Uyo Senatorial District.”
Senator Bassey Albert will be
battling the APC senatorial candidate, Mr. Bassey Etim a.k.a. Bafil in the
forthcoming election, and it is likely that Akpanudodehe would root for his
party’s senatorial candidate.
This will not be the first time Albert
and Bafil will be engaging themselves in the senatorial battle as it would be
recalled how their tussle over the 2015 PDP senatorial ticket came to be resolved after steady streak of
court rulings.
