Impeachment Of Onofiok Luke Irreversible – AKHA Faction... As Nse Ntuen Announces Appointment of Aides

The new faction of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly led by Sir Nse Ntuen says the impeachment of Barr. Onofiok Luke as the speaker of the Assembly remains irrevocable and irreversible.
In a statement released yesterday by the Chief Press Secretary to the factional speaker, AmanamHillary Umo-Udofia, the faction restated their stance on non-recognition of Barr. Onofiok Luke as the Speaker of the House, warning competing interests to desist from seeing themselves as leaders in the Assembly.
“We reiterate by this release, that the impeachment of the erstwhile speaker remains irrevocable and irreversible. We warn those parading themselves as leaders of the House to desist from doing so in their own interests,” the statement reads.
The factional Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Sir Nse Ntuen, had earlier announced the appointments of new aides, ordering them to assume duty with immediate effect.
The appointees include Prof. Emmanuel Sabestian Akpan (Chief of Staff); Mr. Amanam Hillary Umo-Udofia (Chief Press Secretary); Mr. Raphael Udoma (Chief of Protocol) Barr. Mfon Udeme (Special Assistant, Legislative Matters); Mr. NsikakAbasi Johnson (Special Assistant, Political Affairs); Mr. Patrick Edeke (Special Assistant, Media Affairs); Comrade Unyime Essien (Special Assistant, Protocol); Mr. Idorenyin Abel (Special Assistant, Protocol); and Mr. Ubong Otung (Protocol Assistant).
It would be recalled that the five aggrieved members whom their seats were declared vacant by House Speaker, Onofiok Luke on Monday elected Sir Nse Ntuen, member representing Essien Udim state Constituency, as their new Speaker.
Speaking with newsmen in Uyo Monday, factional Speaker Ntuen hinged the decision to change the Speaker followed on members lack of confidence in the ability of Barr. Onofiok Luke.
Ntuen said the process that led to their purported sack was illegal, null and void, as there were subsisting court orders even as the House rules and procedures were not duly and legally followed.
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo Wednesday said the member representing Itu State Constituency, Prince Idongesit Ituen, is a bona fide member of the House pending the determination of the Appeal Court Judgment.
The presiding judge, Justice Fatun Riman, granted the Stay of Execution application filed by Mr. Ituen, following last Wednesday’s ruling of the Federal High Court which empowered the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to declare the seat of the Itu lawmaker vacant.
It would also be recalled that the Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke, had on Monday, declared vacant the seats occupied by Mr. Idongesit Ituen ( Itu); Nse Ntuen ( Essien Udium); Gabriel Toby (Ika/Etim Ekpo); Otobong Ndem (Mkpat Enin);  and Victor Udofia (Ikono), following their recent decampment from PDP to APC.
It became rowdy when the apparent supporters of the embattled lawmakers thronged the premises of the State House of Assembly to protest following the information that the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, in accordance with the ruling of the Federal High Court, would be convening an emergency plenary to officially declare Mr. Idongesit Ituen's seat vacant.
Meanwhile, media report has claimed that Mr. Idongesit Ituen was manhandled by the Speaker’s protocol officers and was prevented from joining Monday’s plenary before the vacation order was read and upheld by the Speaker, Barr. Onofiok Luke.
