2019: Udom Sacks Akpabio’s Loyalists... Dissolves Essien Udim Council

The current cold war weighed by the Akwa Ibom State Government against former Governor Godswill Akpabio following his earthquake defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken a more daring dimension with the dissolution of the executive arm of Essien Udim Local Government Area.
The Sensor authoritatively gathered that the dissolution as announced on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, by the council chairman, Obong Raphael Isobara was done on the orders of the State Government.
It was further learnt that the council secretary, Mr. Raphael Udoma, was nominated by the immediate past Commissioner for Investment, Ibanga Akpabio who resigned his position to join Sen. Godswill Akpabio in APC. Aside that, Udoma is from the same Ukana West Ward where Akpabio also hail from, and equally seen as a closed confidence to the Akpabio.
Also revealed as reasons for the sacking of the executive council, was that the supervisors were nominated by those that joined Senator Akpabio in APC. They include, Udim Usoro who was nominated by Nsentip Akpabio, Mr. Uwem Benard from Odoro Ikot who was nominated by the member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Sunday Akpan, Mr. Mike Ntuen a brother to the House member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Mr. Nse Ntuen.
It would be recalled that Nse Ntuen was one of the State Assembly members that left PDP for APC in the wake of Senator Akpabio's defection.
Meanwhile, sources has informed The Sensor that State Government directed Prince Akpabio to sack the executive council on the premise that they are not loyal to the PDP but those that nominated them to their office.
The source said, “the loyalty of the secretary and supervisors to PDP was suspect, thus, prompted the State Government to order the dissolution of the council. This, he stressed when some of the executive members did not showed up at the Essien Udim Sports Stadium during the Independence Anniversary Celebration.”
Speaking with our correspondent, one of the affected members of the dissolved council, said that the State Government is only “chasing shadows,” adding that he owe no apology being loyal to the person that facilitated his appointment.
