During the inauguration of the executive members of Ikono Wards 8 and 9 Political Forum in Uyo recently, Mr. Clement Ekott, who chaired the event, lamented how the two wards in Ikono clan have been sidelined in the affairs of Uyo local government area, declaring that it is time to reverse the trend by voting Obong Nsima Ekere and other APC candidates into power.
“We have been greatly marginalized in this state and it is time we rise up in unity to bring in another government that will favour us and also create room for us to be part of instead of sidelining us all the time.
“Ikono in Uyo has always been the deciding Wards in Uyo local government area yet greatly underdeveloped; we have played this politics and have seen the arrangement; All Progressives Congress has become a stronghold in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria therefore, we have decided to stand firm with APC, as the PDP has disappointed us. Politics is not a dirty game as posited by others but a worthwhile affair and I implore you not to insult your Elders nor engage in violence during the elections but cooperate with the leaders of this Forum and APC party officials in voting in the preferred candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere,” he said.
Therefore, to usher in a new administration that will salvage the wards from many years of marginalization, Ikono Wards 8 and 9 Political Forum appointed Otunba James Udoma to Chair the group. Pastor Effiong Ekarika was appointed Secretary, while Obonganwan Dora Ebong, Mr Austin Bassey and Emmanuel Hogan were appointed as Executive members of the Forum.

Essien Nkanga, former chairman of Uyo local government council,  congratulated Otunba James Udoma in his new leadership appointment noting that he has a place in politics and will accelerate to a greater height in due time while praying God to grant him success and the people to support the appointee.

In his remarks, the newly appointed chairman of the forum, Otunba James Udoma assured the forum that all the rights denied the clan by the previous administrations will be restored by the incoming dispensation of Obong Nsima Ekere.
