Punish Atiku At The Polls Over ALSCON Sales - APC Leadership Urges Ikot Abasi People
By UbongAbasi Ise
Given the privatization of the
Aluminium Smelting Company of Nigeria, ALSCON, the National Chairman of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, represented by the vice
chairman of the APC South-South, Ntufam Hilliard-Eta, has charged Ikot Abasi
indigenes to vote out Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, the presidential candidate of the
Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, at Saturday's polls.
During the carnival-like APC
gubernatorial campaign rally staged in Ikot Abasi yesterday, Comrade Oshiomole
reminded the people of Ikot Abasi about the unceremonious privatization of
ALSCON by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his deputy, Atiku Abubarkar,
which led to the failing of the company and massive loss of jobs in Ikot Abasi.
The national chairman further
recalled how the Federal Government invested $1.3 billion in the company but
was later sold at paltry sum of $125 billion by Obasanjo/Atiku administration.
He assured the people of the
area that President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has perfected plans to
revamp the ailing company. This revelation was collaborated by Senator Udoma Udo
Udoma, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, who made it known that Bureau
of Public Enterprise had met recently over ALSCON and plan to reopen the
aluminium smelting company is already underway.
The minister said the victory
of President Muhammadu Buhari at the polls will make ALSCON come alive again,
while charging the people to vote for the APC all the way.
Meanwhile, political parties in
Ikot Abasi local government area have collapsed all their political structures
for the APC in honour of their son, Obong Nsima Ekere, who is vying for
governorship office on March 2 election, and over 1000 persons led by Mr.
Archibong Umoh were received into the APC yesterday.
