Sensor Chapel Condoles Elder Okpo On Mum's Death

The chairman of The Sensor Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Asuquo Edem has described of sudden demise of Mrs. Ikwo Okon Okpo, mother to a member of the Chapel, Edet Okpo as painful, considering the role the departed played in the life of their colleague in particular and the entire Okon Okpo family in general.
Comrade Edem stated this at the weekend when he led members of the chapel to pay a condolence visit to Elder Okpo in his Uyo residence.
While regretting the demise of Mrs. Ikwo Okpo at the time her wise counseling was most needed, Edem, however expressed gratitude to God that the departed lived a good life and is resting in God's bosom.
He said, “we as a chapel are saddened at the sudden demise of your beloved mother. We know the role she played in moulding your life to make you what you are today. To say the least, the loss of your mother is painful.
However, we have to give thanks to God for He says we should give Him thanks in all things.
We want you to take consolation on the fact that your mother lived a good life”.
The Sensor Chapel chairman assured Elder Okpo that the chapel would be fully involved in the programmes to give his mother a befitting burial.
Responding, Elder Okpo expressed thanks to members of The Sensor Chapel for identifying with him and his family at this moment of grief. He said that the visit to console with him is a practical show of love to him and his family, adding that the visit has further strengthened him.
“This visit has strengthened me and I am well strengthened. My mother was a great woman and strong supporter to my family. Above all, I was very close to her and she played a key role to the success story of my life” I am happy that she died a fulfilled woman although I wish she lived longer”.
Elder Okpo who is a member of the State Executive Council of NUJ, promised to involve The Sensor Chapel, his primary constituency in all the burial programmes.
He, however, called for continued prayers for the family.
On the condolence visit were the vice chairman of the chapel, Elder Abasiofiok Inyang, Secretary, Evangelist Theophilus Udo, Managing Editor, Sensor Newspaper, Pastor Henry Nkom, Substance Nature, Daniel Francis, Anthony Esin, Grace Ogbenna and Ukpong Ukpong.
