Yesterday, Godswill Akpabio’s Pavilion in Ukana Ikot Ntuen in  Essien Udim local government area, was reduced to a beehive of activities as 11,600 Akwa Ibom youths and women cutting across all the 31 Local government areas of the state received cash and items courtesy of Future Assured Initiative, a pet project of Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Buhari and National Directorate Of Employment , NDE, in collaboration with the Office of Senator Godswill Akpabio.

It would be recalled that the wife of the Nigerian President, Dr. (Mrs) Aisha Buhari, visited Akwa Ibom State last weekend for the first time to kick-start the empowerment programme,
At the programme launch at Nsima Ekere Campaign Ground in Uyo, Senator Godswill Akpabio, while lauding Buhari-led APC government for its fight against corruption as well as various social safety net initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty, said corruption leads to poverty and poverty in turn deepens corruption, adding that by seeking to reduce poverty through social protection programmes, the Federal Government is tackling the root cause of corruption in Nigeria.
He said his allegiance to the APC is informed by President Buhari's love for Akwa Ibom State as the federal government for the first time since the return to democracy in 1999 now brings dualized roads, railway and other infrastructures to the state including numerous federal appointments given to the Akwa Ibom indigenes, a development that sharply depart from the past.
