Udoedehe Is Not Leaving APC – Media Aide

By UbongAbasi Ise

Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Senator John James Akpanudoedehe has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, apparently because of reasons not unconnected to his grievances over the outcome of the just concluded APC gubernatorial primary, latest information coming out from his camp says he still sticks with the  APC.
According to a statement purported to have emanated from Ata Etuk, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator John Akpanudoedehe, and posted on the Facebook timeline belonging to Solomon Johnny, the former Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory remains a loyal member of the APC as well as member of the party’s Board of Trustees.
“There are rumors making the rounds to the effect that Distinguished Senator John James Akpanudoedehe has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC); and/or has been offered a political appointment in another political Party.
“This notice is to dissuade the general public from believing this tissue of lies, or any other publications issued within the same context, with the intent to insult the sensibilities of the general public by deliberately misleading them.
“Senator Akpanudoedehe remains a loyal member of the APC; and Member of its Board of Trustees.
The statement further noted that “the people behind the fabrications against Senator Akpanudoedehe are the same people who have always told lies, and spread falsehoods about him, with the motive of shredding his support base; and impugning his reputation and credibility,”the statement reads.
It called on the public to discountenance the rumours of Senator Udoedehe’s defection as these are peddled by people who “subsist on lies, blackmail, and deceit, for a means of livelihood.”
Meanwhile, the notice has hinted that “Senator Akpanudoedehe has currently submitted the relevant petitions against the conduct of the Party Primaries, and is following every due process prescribed for the registration of discontent.”
It would be recalled that in the recent APC gubernatorial primary election that had four contenders, Obong Nsima Ekere polled 160,458 to emerge the overall winner. He was closely followed by Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia, who had 4,189 votes, with the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, emerging third on the log scoring the total of 2,015 votes in his third outing as a governorship aspirant, while Dr. Edet Efretuei, trailed behind with 1,234 votes.
Nsima Ekere was declared winner by the Chairman of the Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee for Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Yamah Momoh, and was returned as the APC standard flag-bearer in next year’s gubernatorial race.
