APC Primaries: Nsima Ekere Extends Olive Branch To Udoedehe, Ors … Says His Victory Is Assured In 2019

Shortly after his nomination as the Akwa Ibom State 2019 gubernatorial candidate on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Obong (Dr.) Nsima Ekere said Monday he is willing to work with his co-contestants who participated in the primary election of the party.
Accepting the nomination at the APC Secretariat in Uyo, Obong Ekere told the press that the process of his nomination brought no victor or vanquished, while calling on other aspirants to join him in planning for victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
 “The nomination process has brought no victor, no vanquished. I extend my hand of fellowship to all.
We shall begin immediately to heal the wounds of the nomination process. I will ensure that all aspirants are carried along. We must work together; we must plan together to win the election,” he said.
Ekere appreciated the party faithful who voted overwhelmingly for him adding that his victory is dedicated to them.
In the primary election that had four contenders, Obong Nsima Ekere polled 160,458 to emerge the overall winner. He was closely followed by Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia, who had 4,189 votes, with the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, emerging third on the log scoring the total of 2,015 votes in his third outing as a governorship aspirant, while Dr. Edet Efretuei, trailed behind with 1,234 votes.
Nsima Ekere was declared winner by the Chairman of the Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee for Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Yamah Momoh, and was returned as the APC standard flag-bearer in next year’s gubernatorial race.
The APC governorship candidate, after his nomination at the party secretariat led the train to his campaign ground along Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, where at Special Thanksgiving Service was organized to honour God for his victory.
Obong (Dr.) Nsima Ekere announced to the congregation that he has been declared a winner and feel he should thank God for the victory.
“The gubernatorial primary election committee set up by our party to come and conduct the gubernatorial primaries in Akwa Ibom State concluded their assignment and declared me the winner and the flag-bearer of our party for next year’s elections.
“As we came out of that secretariat we felt that the first thing we must do is to come and acknowledge the Maker of Heaven and Earth, the one who knew that on this day, the 1st day of October, 2018, that I would be declared the flag-bearer of the APC for the governorship election,” he said.
Ekere further tasked all the party faithful to join him and the state leadership of the party to diligently prosecute the next phase of the electioneering programme, and to mobilize Akwa Ibom people to vote for APC in the forthcoming general elections adding that his victory at the polls is assured. He promised to rebuild Akwa Ibom State, create jobs for the people, and build world class infrastructures in the state.
Giving a vote of thanks, Mr. Ini Okopido, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Chapter of APC, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Ita Udosen, described Nsima Ekere as a vibrant product the party will sell to Akwa Ibom people saying APC in the state is strong and unstoppable and will conquer at the polls next year.
