Introserve May Drag AKSG To EFCC Over N67.2m Debt

The Managing Director of Introserve Services Limited, Chief Alex Nkennor has said, he would drag the Akwa Ibom State Government to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for failing to pay his N67.2 million debt.
The sum, he said was the outstanding bills owed the company after it completed the installation and maintenance of security/communication equipment at the Akwa Ibom International Airport (AKIA).
The contract, it was gathered was awarded to the company by the state government through ALCON Nigeria Limited in 2014, but contractual agreement was breached leading to failure in payment by the state government more than three years the project was completed.
Chief Nkennor, while speaking to this reporter on the telephone in Uyo on Tuesday, expressed displeasure on the attitude of the state government querying that, why should this happen when he had spent so much millions as kickback for some top officials within the airport company management and the government.
‘According to him, ‘‘ I will not hesitate to take some top government functionaries, Akwa Ibom airport company management officials and foreign engineers in ALCON company Limited to the EFCC for the huge millions they collected from me as kickback, and maliciously withholding my payment’’.
He further maintained that, he had been issued provisional acceptance certificate on job completion, and that the verification exercise conducted on the installation of the ICT/security equipment amongst others were adjudged excellent.
Earlier, the Akwa Ibom State government has dismissed the claims by the contractor describing it as unfounded.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh said, ‘‘there are no such facilities in the airport as claimed by the contractor’’ insisting that, ALCON awarded the contract and paid the contractor more than the work that was done.
He stated that, it is the contractor that is indebted to ALCON and the state government disclosing also that, the contractor had taken the state government to court, while government has filed its position on the matter.
