A’Ibom Workers Recruitment Is A Scam – APC

A recent press statement from the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has sent a scam alert to the public over the on-going recruitment exercise undertaken by the state government.
In a statement signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Nkereuwem Enyongekere and released to the media, the party said the whole scam was a panicky measure by Governor Udom Emmanuel to regularize the illegal employment he has already given to his kinsmen from Awa Clan in Onna local government area, some of whom were employed over a year ago, having realized that he will lose the governorship election in 2019.
The APC vehemently condemned the total shutdown of the job application portal by the state government a day after it was opened and also brought into notice the denial of printout to applicants, even within that brief period, to prevent them from having any evidence of application, describing it as scam and wicked.
The party further accused Mr. Udom Emmanuel of unilaterally employing his kinsmen into the civil service having given directives to the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission without following due process in the past one year.
According to APC,  with the reality of election defeat staring him in the face, Governor Emmanuel has set up a special team headed by a Permanent Secretary to regularize the illegal employment.
It would be recalled that at the eve of the Godswill Akpabio’s administration, about 5,000 applicants were given Offer of Appointment Letters into Pensionable Establishment dated 2nd February, 2015 in line with Chapter 2 of the Akwa Ibom State Public Service Rule (2010 edition). They were employed as Master/Mistress Grade II, on Salary Grade Level 08, Step 2 with a commencing salary of N369,324.48 per anum. Their Letters of Appointment were eventually issued to them on 15th April, 2015 with effect from 1st April, 2015.
But on 30th October 2016, the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan according to the directive of Governor Udom Emmanuel, made to be announced on the radio service of Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) the invalidation of appointment of 5,000 teachers, an event that threw the state government and the aggrieved teachers into legal battle.
