Indigent members of Eyetong clan in Oron local government  area yesterday could not hide their joy and gratitude to Edet Amana Foundation, EDAF, as they received lockdown relief materials and sensitization on precautionary measures against the spread of Covid-19 courtesy of the foundation.

The event, which was flagged off at the palace of the clan head of Eyetong, His Royal Highness, Offong Samuel Onobo, was part of the ongoing Covid-19 Rural Sensitization and Palliative Programme (EDAF-C19RSPP) expected to go beyond Akwa Ibom State till 21st June, 2020.

During yesterday's campaign, William ThankGod, a medic from the College of Health Sciences in the Niger-Delta University, Bayelsa State, took time to educate the indigenes of Eyetong clan on preventive measures against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, after which the less privileged, including the poorest of the poor and the vulnerables in the clan received facemasks and food items such as rice, garri, noodles, etc..

Before conducting EDAF team around the communities in the clan to  identify the intended beneficiaries, His Royal Highness, Offong Samuel Onobo, said his clan is happy to be the first of the beneficiaries of the one-month programme.

Offong Onobo expressed gratitude to the proprietor of the foundation, Dr. Edet Awana, who, according to him, never fails to help his people in tough moments like this.

The monarch disclosed that when the Akwa Ibom State government was visiting the communities in the clan with palliatives recently, he was praying that prominent sons of Oro nation should emulate the state government, stating emphatically that God has answered his prayers through Dr. Edet Amana.

Dr. Amana, who was represented by the foundation's manager, Mr. Cyril Bieh, said he was thinking on how the people fare in these difficult times as governments imposed lockdown measures, pointing to this as the reason he  deemed it necessary to offer some  assistance to help cushion the bad effect.

Part of the foundation's train that stormed Eyetong clan yesterday  were prominent figures such as Prof. Inyang Atting and Mrs. I.V. Esin.

Meanwhile, Edet Amana Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, is with the mission to raise the standard of living of people and communities in Nigeria through provision of assistance to the needy in education, healthcare services, economic empowerment and disaster relief.
