A'Ibom APC Not Regretting Legal Crusade Against PDP - Spokesperson ...As AKHA Inaugurates First Opposition Member

The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, says the party was not wrong in approaching the court to seek redress over circumstances that led to the failure of its candidates in the 2019 general elections.
Coming on the heels of the inauguration of Elder Effiong Johnson as the first APC member in the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly yesterday, the party, through a press statement signed by its state publicity secretary, Elder Nkereuwem Enyongekere, said it has no regret in taking legal steps to reclaim lost mandate.
While congratulating the Mbo State Constituency lawmaker, the APC said his victory indicates that the decision to approach the court was never a clueless excercise but a reasonable attempt to legally ask for the restoration of the Mandate of the people.
"Your inauguration is a proof that underscores the cogency of evidence that the legal crusade fronted by APC was never a clueless and unssubstianted excercise but a genuine and concerted attempt to legally ask for the restoration of the Mandate of the people stolen during 2019 due to the corruptible nature of the umpire who compromised at every phase of election.
"Though so many of our cases had suffered some unacceptable and very expensive setbacks because our judiciary is not completely independent and moreso is yet to assume its status of financial autonomy in the ongoing democratization process but our joy and inspiration became so brazing and satisfying in your recovered stolen Mandate which is the ineluctable reason for your inauguration being delayed till today.
"APC upholds that as very strong complementary reason symbolizing that something was definitely wrong with the conduct of the elections by INEC in Akwa Ibom State and that, APC did not just go to the Tribunal to attract sympathy for Federal Appointments. We are glad that at last we are vindicated," the statement reads.
Yesterday, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Bassey, sworn-in Elder Effiong Johnson, as Member representing Mbo State Constituency in the 7th Assembly.
Effiong was sworn-in, following oaths of Office and Allegiance administered by the Speaker, at exactly 12:35pm immediately after the commencement of plenary.
The lawmaker, who contested under the APC platform, was recently declared winner of the 2019 House of Assembly Elections in Mbo by a Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, Cross River State capital.
The Court nullified the election of the former Mbo Lawmaker, Mr. Okon Frank of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who was until his sack from the House, the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum.
In his remarks, Speaker Aniekan Bassey, said Elder Effiong Bassey had furnished the House with relevant documents and a certified true copy of his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, adding that the House would always obey the Rule of Law which according to him, is the hall mark of democracy.
