Anger In AK Over Onna Industrialization -Group Says Udom Abandons 30 LGAs -Decries Poor State Of Roads
By Our Reporter
A socio-political interest organization, NKA NKORI Akwa Ibom State, Rivers State chapter, has chided Governor Udom Emmanuel, saying that the Governor is promoting sectionalism in Akwa Ibom State, through his biased governance. The President of the group, Ette Nkori, Obong Umanah Okoko, made this known to our reporter in Uyo, during interactions yesterday.
Obong Okoko disclosed that the organization condemned the industrialization claims of the state government, under the Governor, Udom Emmanuel, and noted that the industrialization focus of the government centres on Onna Local Government Area, the Governor's owned local government only, leaving the other thirty local government areas hopeless. He also blamed the government for promotion of unnecessary media propaganda, and argued that the administration's claims on construction of rural roads in the state are mere media scams, regretting that so many rural communities in the state, especially in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene senatorial districts have no motorable roads, as erosion had rendered many roads in the areas dilapidated.
“Our organization condemns the present leadership of Akwa Ibom State under Governor Udom Emmanuel, for concentrating its industrialization policy in one local government area, Onna where the Governor comes from. We also fault the administration for neglecting many rural areas without motorable roads in the state, whereas, in mass media and social media platforms, the government is canvassing cheap popularity in road construction and provision of other infrastructural needs in local communities in the state”, the President expressed.
Commenting on the dualization of Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road, the President expressed pessimism that the government will not enhance construction of the road to the standard specified by the immediate-past administration led by Senator Godswill Akpabia. He cited that the proposed fly-over bridge at the control post in Ikot Ekpene, by the past administration seems to be a mirage, as according to the President, nothing has been done at the spot to indicate that there will be a fly-over at the control post junction, considering the government's promise to commission the road by the end of this year.
The Nkori leader, however, urged the state government to consider interests of other local government areas in the state, in its industrialization plan, infrastructural development and as well as appointment of qualified Akwa Ibom sons and daughters into the various political offices in the state for political equity, fairness and justice.
