After the national assembly election tribunal sitting in Uyo on Tuesday completed obtaining testimonies from witnesses brought forward by Senator Chris Ekpenyong  (1st Respondent),  it is now set for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, (2nd Respondent) to produce 184 witness it listed before the tribunal during the prehearing conference held on Monday 13th May, 2019.

The hearing on Tuesday, was adjourned to Saturday 20th July 2019 where the three-man panel chaired by W.O. Akanbi is expected to hear testimonies from the PDP witnesses.
As it would be recalled, PDP, through their lead counsel, Solomon Umoh, SAN, requested to subpoena 30 witnesses while listed 154 witnesses to appear, although hinted that all may not be called to appear before the tribunal.
Meanwhile on Tuesday Ekpenyong presented the last two of his witnesses 14 witnesses despite proposing the total of 162 witnesses.
During prehearing conference, Chris Ekpenyong, through his counsel, Barr. Samuel Ikpo, had applied for eight subpoenaed witnesses and 154 others to testify, but ended up producing about 8.6% of the total number of the witnesses applied for.
Unconfirmed report reaching our correspondent has it that some persons approached by Senator Chris Ekpenyong asking to appear as witnesses before the tribunal have declined, saying they could not testify against Senator Godswill Akpabio who has touched many lives in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and the entire Akwa Ibom State.
