Mixed Reactions Trail Udom’s New Cabinet …As Gov Retains 98% Old Exco Members

It was jubilation and tales of woes
yesterday when Governor Udom Emmanuel sent list of 22 member State Executive
Council members to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for approval.
The lists which contend about 100% of
members that served in the governor’s first term has only Mr. Okpulupm Ette as
the new person. He replaced former Commissioner for Agriculture and Food
Sufficiency, Dr. Charles Udo-Inyang who was sacked from office few days to the
end of the first term.
The
Sensor gathered
that the return of the former Commissioners has generated mixed reactions from
members of the public. While supporters of the nominees were seen dancing and
jubilating, those who spent several nights around Government House to lobby for
appointment were said to be totally disappointed as they could not make the
list.
One of the loyal supporter to the
immediate past Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang, who gave his name
simply as Uduak, said that the return of Mr. Inyangeyen is a reward for hard
work he has displayed in carrying out the development plan of the governor and
noted that with the return, most of the projects embarked upon by the governor
will be completed before the end of the second term.
However, many supporters of the governor
who worked tirelessly to see his re-election have felt disappointed that some
who have been there for too long who have given way for new persons.
They particularly noted that the former
Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Glory Edet who served for almost eight
years in former Governor Godswill Akpabio administration should not have been
there as according to them, there are more capable hands to man the ministry.
It was further gathered that aside those
that lobbied for appointment, who are said to be disappointed, the list has
also disappointed those that have eye at the Hilltop Manson in 2023 as their
preferred supporters could not make the list.
Meanwhile, this is the full list of
Commissioners, Special Advisers sent to the House of Assembly for consideration
and clearance. They include, Ephraim
Inyaneyen Akan Okon, Ime Ekpo, Nse Essien, Uwemedimo Nwoko, Monday Uko, Linus
