Chris Ekpenyong Threatens Me Against Exposing Igini At Tribunal – Witness ….You Are A Gossiper – PDP Lawyer Fires Back

A witness at the ongoing national assembly election tribunal sitting in Uyo has blown open the can of worm, reeling off startling revelations surrounding February 23 senatorial election in Akwa Ibom Northwest (Ikot Ekpene) District.
Mr. Tiebet Joshua, who served as local government collating agent for the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Obot Akara local government area revealed to the tribunal on Wednesday how Senator Chris Ekpenyong called him three days before to issue him stern warning against exposing at the tribunal some fraudulent activities that aided his election as the senator representing Akwa Ibom Northwest district.
Joshua, an indigene of Abiakpo Ikot Abasi Inyang in Obot Akara local government area, said he was aware of the result sheet that had 19, 632 of votes cast after collation, but was surprised to see 20,117 later written on the same document.
He said if all the total number of votes from the 10 wards of the local government are summed up, the total number would not amount to 20,117.
The witness further said the Returning Officer for Obot Akara local government area, Prof. Abang Elkana, following  a phone discussion, had taken him to Uyo to meet Mr. Mike Igini, the Akwa Ibom Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, who turned out to be persuading him to append his signature on the result sheet that had 20,117 instead of 19,632 of the number of votes to avoid over-voting and cancellation of result in Obot Akara.
Mr. Mr. Etiebet Joshua revealed to the tribunal that while he was a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, before he defected to the APC, the returning officer for  Obot Akara in the February 23 election, Prof. Abang Ekanem, had contested for the office of the local government council chairman in Obot Akara under the platform of PDP, and he (Tiebet) was his ward agent, adding that, “the returning officer is a full member of PDP.”
But the PDP counsel, Solomon Umoh, SAN, was not to allow the witness leave the box unscathed. The lawyer accused Mr. Tiebet Joshua of being fond of “gossiping people,” saying he divulged the discussions he purportedly had with the Senator Chris Ekpenyong, Prof. Abang Ekanem and Mr. Mike Igini of INEC to the tribunal.
