Oruk Anam Spits On Son-In-Law’s Second Term Ambition … As Ukanafun Laments Udom’s Shoddy Amnesty Deal

By UbongAbasi Ise

The overwhelming turnout of Oruk Anam indigenes today at Ikot Ibritam to express solidarity with the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the party’s campaign rally, and the defection of over 2,000 members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC including the collapse of the entire structure of PDP in Ward 7 PDP, have all shown that Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, whose wife hails from Obio Akpa in Oruk Anam, has lost massive support in the local government area, and this may tell on his chances of emerging reelected in the next month’s polls.
The indigenes of the area, through various speakers at the rally, bemoaned lack of infrastructural development and negligence by the state government despite having Governor Udom Emmanuel as the son-in-law of the area.
Senator Godswill Akpabio, who sent the crowd ecstatic, said if the Governor’s wife was not competing the position of the First Lady with others, hospitals, roads, and industries would have been built in Oruk Anam, her parent home.
At Ukanafun local government area where the APC campaign train berthed earlier, Mr. Ubokobong Umoh, who spoke for the youths, said the amnesty deal engineered by Governor Udom Emmanuel is a sham as nothing has been done to rehabilitate and reintegrate the repentant militants into the larger society.
