The remains of
late Mrs. Patience Effiong Thomas, the mother of a vocal human rights lawyer
Clifford Thomas, will be laid to rest at Effiat Offot in Uyo on Friday December
7, 2018.
The interment
will be preceded by the funeral service which will be conducted by The
Apostolic Church Afaha Offot District at the deceased compound along Ukana Ebet
lane, off IBB Avenue in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State’s capital city.
As it would be
recalled, Barr. Clifford Thomas, who is the managing partner of Libertas
Solicitors, lost his beloved mum to the cold hands of death on Tuesday 9th
October, 2018 after months of protracted illness.
Late Mrs.
Patience Effiong Thomas, also known as Nee Imoh Robert Eno, was from Afaha
Inang in Awa Clan in Onna local government. She was married to late Effiong
Thomas Asuquo who was an officer in Nigerian army.
The deceased was
an astute business woman. And as a devoted Christian, she belonged to several
women associations in The Apostolic Church such as Women Fellowship, Women
Choir and the church’s Witness Band.
She is
survived by children, grandchildren and a host of other relations to mourn her
death.
Meanwhile, the
management of The Sensor Newspapers
in Uyo has deeply condoled with Barr. Clifford Thomas on the event of his
mother’s death. The newspaper outfit sees the demise of the industrious woman
as a great loss to her immediate community, the state, the country and to those
who could have been direct beneficiaries of her wealth of experience and words
of counsel.
