Barr. Clifford Thomas Buries Mum Friday December 7

The remains of late Mrs. Patience Effiong Thomas, the mother of a vocal human rights lawyer Clifford Thomas, will be laid to rest at Effiat Offot in Uyo on Friday December 7, 2018.

The interment will be preceded by the funeral service which will be conducted by The Apostolic Church Afaha Offot District at the deceased compound along Ukana Ebet lane, off IBB Avenue in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State’s capital city.

As it would be recalled, Barr. Clifford Thomas, who is the managing partner of Libertas Solicitors, lost his beloved mum to the cold hands of death on Tuesday 9th October, 2018 after months of protracted illness.

Late Mrs. Patience Effiong Thomas, also known as Nee Imoh Robert Eno, was from Afaha Inang in Awa Clan in Onna local government. She was married to late Effiong Thomas Asuquo who was an officer in Nigerian army.


The deceased was an astute business woman. And as a devoted Christian, she belonged to several women associations in The Apostolic Church such as Women Fellowship, Women Choir and the church’s Witness Band.

She is survived by children, grandchildren and a host of other relations to mourn her death.

Meanwhile, the management of The Sensor Newspapers in Uyo has deeply condoled with Barr. Clifford Thomas on the event of his mother’s death. The newspaper outfit sees the demise of the industrious woman as a great loss to her immediate community, the state, the country and to those who could have been direct beneficiaries of her wealth of experience and words of counsel.
