Political/Legislative Boss Calls For Partnership With Donor Agencies

The Special Adviser, Bureau of Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Pst. Sunny Ibuot has called on donor agencies to partner the State Government synergise with the projects allotted to the State.
Pst. Ibuot made the call during a courtesy visit paid him by a team from the Niger Delta Support Programme, in conjunction with European Union, on Thursday, in Uyo.
The Special Adviser said, closer partnership with the International Donor Agency will provide proper monitoring and assessment of projects designed for communities in the State.

Ibuot, who commended the team for locating the projects in some semi urban areas in the State, assured them of the State Government’s readiness to provide the necessary resources to aid in the completion of the project for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people.
He harped on the importance of sensitizing the people and monitoring the projects in the communities, explaining that, when they take ownership and responsibility of the projects in their communities, it will curb the rate of vandalism of government projects.
Commending Governor Udom Emmanuel on his developmental strides, the Special Adviser, described him as a result-oriented leader, and assured them that the project will be a success.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the team, Engr. Albert Achten called on the State Government to formulate an enabling Water law and policy, and solicited for funding of the projects.
He thanked the community for accepting the sense of ownership of the projects, and called on the state government to rehabilitate the abandoned water facilities.
Also speaking, the Desk Officer, Ministry of Budget & National Planning, Olarewaju Okpanubi said the programme is aimed at bridging the water gap in the state, adding that, while they initiate the community-based project with about 30% of the funding, the state government provides 70%.
In a closing remark, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Nse Edem, thanked the team of Niger Delta Support Programme for their intervention programme in the State, and assured them of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s commitment towards accomplishing society-friendly projects in the State.
