Political Parties Write-Off Udom's Projects

Political parties in Akwa Ibom State have expressed dismay over vacuity to development, abandonment of existing infrastructure, intimidating unemployment rate and neglected campaign promises by the Udom Emmanuel's led administration.

The parties which came under the aegis of Coalition For A Better Akwa Ibom (C.B.A), gathered last Saturday at Accord Party office, 202 Oron Road Uyo, with a blue print for any governorship candidate that has all it takes to bring back the lost glory of Akwa Ibom state within four years.
Reading the blue print to journalists in Uyo, the Chairman of the Coalition who doubled as the state Chairman of Accord Party, Mr. Joe Itiaba said, "they have decided to live up to their responsibilities as major political stakeholders  to give Akwa Ibom state the desired direction and face lift before, during and after the 2019 general election.
He mentioned that any governorship candidate that would win their support must have proven integrity, and shall uphold the terms and conditions of the MoU that would be signed between him and the Coalition, as well as keeping to his campaign promises within his four years in office.
He stated emphatically that any governorship candidate endorsed by the Coalition must within four years in office revamped all the moribund industries in the state including the Quality Ceramic, Mbak Itam, Sunshine Batteries Ikot Ekpene, Nigerian Newsprint Manufacturing Company, Oku Iboku, Biscuit Industry in Ikot Ekpene, Mounting of Safety Equipment on the roads to reduce road accident, resuscitation of all cottage hospital with specific interest in Ini local government area and other local government areas in the state.
Mr. Itiaba also mentioned the revisitation of Ibom Power Plant, Ibom Deep Sea Port, Ibom Science Park among other abandoned projects by the present administration which would have created enough employments for the teaming youths of the state.
He expressed optimism that the new Governor should be able to create cargo line at the Ibom International Airport, ensure total free and compulsory education not tuition free as practiced in the state, free medical care for pregnant women and aged parents, prompt payment of workers entitlements, compulsory payments of backlog of gratuities, pensions and areas of workers, compulsory relocation of Mobil Headquarters to it operational base, construction of more roads at the rural areas amongst other live touching projects in the state.
Those in attendance were state chairmen of about 29 political parties in Akwa Ibom State including the Labour Party and PRP Chairmen, Mr Utip Etiebet and Aniebiet Emmanuel.
