A'Ibom PDP Primary: Man Arrested With Gun At Ibom Hall

The last may not have been heard of the recent Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries conducted in the State. The Sensor gathered that a youth from Nsukara Offot simply identified as Michael Bernard was last Thursday caught red-handed with a locally made gun and 3 cartridges at Ibom Hall grounds during accreditation for the House of Representatives primaries.

A source told The Sensor that the suspect who is alleged to be a member of Vikings Confraternity group, was working for a youth leader of Nsukara Offot community identified as Emem who himself was working for an aspirant said to have the backing of the government.
He was said to have been caught by men of Eagle-Eye Anti-vice squad of the State Police Command.

Meanwhile, our reporter gathered that the State Chapter of PDP is making frantic effort to cover up the incident while the Police is said to be determined in prosecuting the suspect to serve as deterrent to others especially as the State and country are approaching the general elections.

When contacted, a senior police officer in “A” Division confirmed the arrest but, however said that he could not make further comment as investigation is still ongoing.
He said, “Yes a young man was arrested with a locally made gun and 3 cartridges by our men. Investigation into the case is ongoing”.
In a related development, the PDP ticket for Uyo State Constituency is still said to be in a serious contention between Mr. Anietie Eka and Monday Eyo popularly called Murray. It would be recalled that the Party had given Eka nomination ticket, a development that made Eyo who is a serving State House member kicked. Eyo had threatened to dump the Party for APC if the ticket is not reversed in his favour. On his part, Eka has equally dared the leadership of the Party of any attempt to snatch the ticket from him. The actions, it was learnt, has unsettled the party in the State.
