Over 5000 People Dump PDP For APC
By UbongAbasi Ise
Over 5000 persons under the
aegis of Ibom Unique Assembly, IUA, decamped PDP in favour of APC, Saturday in
Uyo.
Elder Inemesit Essien, the
National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group made this known to our
reporter in Uyo, shortly after the group rose from her meeting at Udoumana
Avenue, Uyo.
Beaming with an air of
confidence, Essien spoke with assurance that the group will do political
exploits for the realization of the emergence of Obong Nsima Ekere as the
governor of Akwa Ibom state in 2019.
"We will work tirelessly
to ensure that our Principal, Obong Nsima Ekere, emerges as governor of Akwa
Ibom state come 2019," Elder Essien told our reporter.
He further disclosed that the
group is highly organized and focused, with over 5000 members spread across the
31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state.
Speaking on the leadership and
organisation of the group, the national PRO disclosed that the group is headed
by a dynamic president, Mr Udeme Moses James. He added that Idorenyin Ekpo,
Uduak Paulinus Nati, Owoidoho Tom Akpan, and Rev. MbereObong Sam serve as
secretary, women leader, youth leader, and patron respectively.
Further hinting, Elder Essien
said, "We have a formidable structure with a powerful students’ wing and
31 local government area coordinators; and all of them were in the meeting
today to declare our support for Obong Ekere's deserving ambition."
To further justify the stand
of the group, Elder Essien pointed to some landmark achievements of Obong Nsima
Ekere as Managing Director NDDC to include the construction of quality roads,
rehabilitation of schools, and the floating of scholarships across the Niger
Delta region.
"I tell you, if we are to
see and experience a bright future of true industrialization, rapid
development, and efficient management of our resources, then the option we have
as Akwa Ibom people is to vote in Obong Nsima Ekere as our governor in 2019,"
Essien submitted.
