The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
stakeholders in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area have urged their political
leader, and former senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, Senator
Effiong Bob to honour the agreement that he and other stakeholders of the party
entered in 2014 during build-up to the 2015 Nsit Ubium State Constituency Seat
election.
The
Sensor authoritatively
learnt that the voice vote agreement in which the stakeholders including Sen.
Bob, Obong Essien Esema, Barr. Onofiok Luke, Barr. Solomon Ekokoi, among other
entered was that since the seat was hotly contested between Barr. Onofiok Luke
and Barr. Solomon Ekokoi, and if not well handled, could lead to crisis in the
party, an Nsit son in the person of Barr. Luke should be allowed to go and
after he has served his term, an Ubium son in the person of Barr. Ekokoi should
serve.
The
Sensor has
equally learnt that the two term senator has reneged on the agreement and is
poised to impose his son, Barr. Otobong Bob on the people, an action that has
so far generated serious tension in the area.
Speaking with our correspondent, one of
the stakeholders who said he was part of the agreement, condemned the action of
the political leader, saying that an attempt to impose his son on the Ubium
people in particular and Nsit Ubium in general will amount to betrayal of trust
and will be resisted.
The stakeholder who advised that the
agreement made, be respected in favour of Barr. Ekokoi, added that the
political leader has no monopoly of dictating a house member to the people. He
equally urged the people of Ubium to remain calm while agitating for fair-play,
equity and justice.
Though Barr. Ekokoi could not be reached
for reaction on the said agreement; one of his aides told our correspondent
that his principal is not perturbed by the plan imposition of Barr. Bob on the
people. He expressed optimism that his principal would get the party ticket.
