2019 Uyo Senatorial Polls: OBA Jittery As Usenobong Akpabio Joins Race
As the intrigues towards the
2019 Uyo Senatorial District elections continue to gather momentum,
stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have continued to align
their interest and support towards a more acceptable candidate even as the
State Governor and the leadership of the Party in the State have pledged to
stick to the principles of zoning for political offices.
Feelers in some quarters has
it that the present Senator representing Uyo Senatorial Distrct, Mr. Bassey
Albert(OBA) is already running from pillar to post as the zoning fomular is
totally out of his favour as Ibiono Ibom nay Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency has
already served two terms where he is completing the one term served by his
predecessor, Senator Ita Solomon Enang.
OBA is also said to be having
sleepless nights as a cerebral lawmaker, Barr Usenobong Akpabio is said to have
joined the race who according to reports, has the backing of the Party and
powers that be in the State added to that fact that the position has been zoned
to Uyo Federal Constituency with Uruan and Ibesikpo Asutan to present
aspirants.
Some Party stakeholders who
spoke to our reporter described Barr Usenobong Akpabio who had served for two
terms representing Uruan State Constituency, in the Akwa Ibom State House of
Assembly as a stabilizing force and being very acceptable in the local
government areas that make up the Senatorial District.
A government house source who
also spoke to our reporter said that Barr Akpabio has the backing of the State
governor as according to him, the governor was not comfortable with OBA, him
being loyal to former Godswill Akpabio hence his determination to ensure that
he dosent return to the Red Chambers
