LG Councils Are To Prepare Ground For Udom In 2019 – Paul Ekpo
The PDP leadership in Akwa Ibom State expects no less
from the local government councils come 2019 as the State Party Chairman says PDP
candidates in the forthcoming local government election, when elected, are to
prepare the ground for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s second term reelection.
The PDP State chapter chairman, Mr. Paul Ekpo, who was
represented by Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu at Wednesday’s Chairmanship Candidate’s
Campaign in Eket, stated the intention of the party to put on ground local
government officials that would work towards actualizing the governor’s
ambition come 2019. He said that the Party came to Eket to present the
Chairmanship Candidate, Vice Chairmanship nominee and councillorship candidates
to the people so that when they are eventually voted into office on December 2,
they will prepare the ground for Mr. Udom Emmanuel in 2019.
“We are here to present those who will prepare the ground
for the governor to be reelected for a second term,” he said.
In his remark, the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Eket,
Mr. Frank Archibong, who led the campaign team to 11 villages in Ward 3 Urban
and Ward 4 Central, gave assurance that his election next month would serve as
an indicator of what Governor Udom Emmanuel should expect from Eket people in
2019.
Archibong said that Wednesday’s event was to thank the
people of Eket for always rooting for PDP in the area.
“We are not here to campaign but to tell the people thank
you, for always supporting PDP,” said the PDP flag-bearer.
Archibong, along with his wife, Bright, and his running
mate, Mr. Nsikan John, were presented to the people of Eket during the tour of
11 villages.
Presentation of
the councillorship candidates to their respective wards also constituted the highpoint
of the campaign.
The candidates and other PDP faithful were received by
the new Clan Head of Eket Offiong, His Highness, Chief Samuel Edohoeket, in his
palace.
Meanwhile, the tour continued yesterday to six wards in the
Eket local government area.
