PDP Disgraces Moses Ekpo, Snatches Party Ticket From Anointed Candidate
Barely six weeks to the conduct of local
government election in the State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has
disgraced the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo by dropping his anointed
candidate and party flag-bearer for the much expected election in Abak, sir,
Gabriel Etim.
The
Sensor authoritatively
gathered that Ekpo was instrumental to the emergence of Etim as the flag-bearer
despite protest from other aspirants who contested for the ticket. The number
two citizen in the State was said to have argued that Etim is his only slot
after he failed to produce another anointed candidate as a councillorship
candidate from his ward.

It was further gathered that in the wake
of the protests by the aspirants allegedly supported by elected and political
appointees from Abak, PDP succumbed to the presume and dumped the Deputy
Governor’s candidate, a development said to be a slap on him.
In the place of Etim, a retired
Direction in SUBEB, one Barr. Imoh William has been nominated to fly the party
flag. William is said to be generally accepted by other aspirants and other
elders of the party including elected and appointed office holders.
Meanwhile, the last minute dumping of
Etim is unconnected to the current investigation by Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC and other security agencies over alleged abuse of
office during his time at SUBEB.
A source had told The Sensor that Etim had been under investigation since he was
arrested at a point of submitting his documents at AKISIEC.
Some residents of Abak who spoke with
our correspondent said that the dropping of the deputy governor’s candidate is
a welcome development considering the fact that he has not really make any
impact as number two citizen. A former party chairman in the area said that Mr.
Ekpo had not done well in attracting development to Abak. He also pointed out
that the collapsed Hospital road in the area has provoked the people as they
are made to face an untold hardship.
He added that over 20 communities that
uses the road have been cut off.
He called on the deputy governor to have
a rethink in carrying Abak people along in terms of attracting development or
be ready to face stiff opposition in 2019.
