AKISIEC Shifts LG Election



For those warming up to contest the forth-coming local government election in the State, they have to tary a while as Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC has shifted the election date from November 11 to December 2, 2017.
The Sensor authoritatively gathered that the shift as announced by AKISIEC Chairman, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak is to allow political parties fielding candidates to conclude their primaries and other logistics.
It was further gathered that the shift shocked political parties and candidates who are said in high spirit to vy for various positions.
It would be recalled that Ikoiwak and his team were drafted to AKISIEC in July to carryout the electoral process started by Dr. Gloria Ukpong. Shortly after swearing in the commission members, AKISIEC denied media report that the date for the November 11 poll would be shifted, thus, giving the aspirants to time to buckle the political belt for the election.
