The Assembly of Charismatic Ministers
and Bishops (ACMB) of Nigeria, has enthroned two new bishops to raise the
number of bishops in the assembly.
Performing the enthronement rites, the
founder of the assembly and Primate of the Goodnews Community International Abak,
Archbishop Elijah Mboho enjoined the new bishops to be good shepherds of the
flock of Christ, who do not pursue material gains to satisfy selfish needs of
the carnal body but set above every pursuit, the goal of encouraging spiritual
development and growth of the church of Jesus Christ. He intimated the new
bishops that the bishopric position needs greater sacrifice which they must
always be ready to offer to promote the growth of Christianity without
expecting any reward from man, adding that the high priestly office demands
that any occupant demonstrates justice, honesty, transparency and love for all
manners of persons, irrespective of the Christian denomination, nationality and
religion the person may belong to, but as Jesus Christ loved the world, and the
church, the bishops must follow the example of Jesus Christ in loving
everybody.
Delivering message before the
enthronement the chairman of Akwa Ibom State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Archbishop
Dr. Cletus Bassey, described the bishopric throne as being an everlasting
throne, and the scepter as being the right scepter (Psalm 50:6), and as a
symbol of authority that carries with it mercy and forgiveness. He maintained
that the occupants of the throne are not always people who are blameless, but
that the mercy of God fulfils the grace that makes one to be anointed for the
throne “God gives His mercy to whoever he feels. He charged the new bishops to
be compassionate and merciful to the children of God under their care and to
demonstrate the authority of their new position as bishops in the household of
God with the fear of God, seeking always directions by the Holy Spirit, instead
of human counsels, to be able to discharge the responsibilities of the
bishopric office accordingly.
Briefing our reporter shortly after the
enthronement service, the President of the ACMB, Bishop Prof. Ahaziah Umanah,
said that the two bishops were selected by their local church, the Goodnews
Community International Abak and described the role of the ACMB in the
enthronement of the bishops as being consummated in the commandment of Jesus
Christ to His disciples “go ye into the world and make disciples of all
Nations”. He disclosed that the ACMB is non denominational assembly of
Christian leaders who seek to promote the growth of the universal church which
Jesus Christ is the head, noting that any true minister of God can join the assembly
of charismatic ministers. It would be recalled that ACMB enthroned Bishop
Nseabasi Ette and Bishop Joshua Udom for the Goodnews Community International
weekend in Abak.
