Pandemonium In A’Ibom Hospital Over Death Of Expectant Mother …As Thugs Invade Ward

Pandemonium struck Ikot Ekpene General Hospital last Saturday following death of a post dated expectant mother (name withheld) who was admitted into the antenatal ward for child birth. The Sensor gathered that the deceased expectant mother was on arrival at the hospital, a sessed and advised by a midwife to bear the delivery pains as she was not due for delivery. It was further gathered that the women despite the advise, attempted to deliver the child, and as a result, got all her vital organs damaged which led to her untimely death. Sensing that his wife has passed out, the husband name withheld locked up all the nurses in the ward and threatened to kill them. To carry out the threat, he reportedly invited thugs who invaded the hospital in a full-loaded truck but timely intervention of the Chief Medical Director, one Dr. Okorie, saved the situation. A’Ibom PDP Depletes As 5,000 Decamp To APC In Abak 5

As political parties in the country prepare for 2019 general elections, the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Akwa Ibom State has continued to depleat following the defection of about 5,000 members to the All Progressive Congress, APC. The defection which took place on Saturday at Bishop Clark’s Primary School, Abak, had PDP members from former Abak Division which comprised of Abak, Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam and Ika officially joining APC at an event organized by Abak 5 Coalition Movement to receive their grand patron, and Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commision, Obong Nsima Ekere. Illegal Arrest, Detention: Court Slams N3million Damages On Bank, Police

The Federal High Court 1 sitting in Uyo, has awarded the sum of three million naira (N3million) against Diamond Bank Plc and the Nigeria Police Force for arrest and detention of one Sunday Jonah Akpan. The court presided by Honorable Justice I.M Sani had in a suit No FHC/UY/CS/164/2017 had in its judgment held that the arrest of the applicant by the Police on the investigation of Diamond Bank Plc in lieu of his daughter, one Nyakno Sunday Akpan who absconded from the employ of Diamond Bank because of her inability to account for N3million as BetNaija agent of the bank was illegal and unconstitutional. The court also held that the detention of applicant’s Lexus 300 was unlawful, illegal and ordered the immediate release of the car in addition to payment of N3million as exemplary damages. Fraudulent Dealings: A’Ibom Customers Move Against PHEDC … Call For Prepaid Metres

By UbongAbasi Ise Electricity consumers in Akwa Ibom State have drawn battle line with Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, saying they would no longer pay for the power they have not consumed. At an Electricity Consumers Consultative Meeting held over weekend in Uyo, consumers took their turn to bemoan how they suffer in the hands of the power distributors lamenting that they are made to pay exorbitant, estimated bills that are incommensurable with the electricity provided to them. Narrating his ordeal, Mr. Solomon John, a resident at Aka Etinan in Uyo, said he inherited the outstanding debt of electricity bill totaling N33,000 at a three-bedroom flat he is currently occupying. He had to clear the debt to give way for a new billing regime but the situation became worse when PHEDC kept increasing the electricity bill steadily from N6,000 to N12,000 within few months, even without power supply. The anti-graft agency and Akwa Ibom State civil society organization under the umbrella of EFCC/Akwa Ibom State Civil Society Organization Anti-Corruption Coalition, weekend, held a meeting in Uyo, deliberating on ways to achieve strong partnership in combating and preventing economic and financial malpractices in the state.
