Akpabio Vs Ekpenyong: PDP To Storm Tribunal With 184 Witnesses

By UbongAbasi Ise After the national assembly election tribunal sitting in Uyo on Tuesday completed obtaining testimonies from witnesses brought forward by Senator Chris Ekpenyong   (1 st Respondent),   it is now set for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, (2 nd Respondent) to produce 184 witness it listed before the tribunal during the prehearing conference held on Monday 13 th May, 2019. The hearing on Tuesday, was adjourned to Saturday 20 th July 2019 where the three-man panel chaired by W.O. Akanbi is expected to hear testimonies from the PDP witnesses. As it would be recalled, PDP, through their lead counsel, Solomon Umoh, SAN, requested to subpoena 30 witnesses while listed 154 witnesses to appear, although hinted that all may not be called to appear before the tribunal. By UbongAbasi Ise The Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, has come under fire at the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as three-man panel yesterday slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,   for its the inability to produce election materials used in conducting the 2019 general elections in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency. The tribunal, at the resumed sitting over the petition filed by Mr. Emmanuel Ekon and the All Progressives Congress against Aniekan Umanah, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and INEC, granted an application filed by S.C. Danger Alert: Atabong Bridge To Collapse, Experts Predict

Atabong head bridge, which connects Eket to other parts of the state came into news on Friday when fire was set near it by members of the Joint Task Force on Anti-Bunkering Activities that were burning the intercepted boat laden with alleged bunkered petroleum products.
