The 2019 edition of Miss Finest Queen Nigeria, MFQN, has come and gone, but the memories appear not to be leaving the minds of the participants anytime soon.
It was quite a spectacular Friday night in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, as the management of Slyz-B Movie Music Production & Modeling Agency staged a beauty pageantry that produced another bevy of crowned queens, with the overall winner going home with a saloon car and a prize of N500,000.
About fourteen attractive young women drawn across the country, showed off their shades of beauty and talents in a keenly contested pageantry that was organized with the theme, Beauty and Focus.
While speaking with The Sensor correspondent, Miss Deborah Edet, 20, who emerged the overall winner of the competition, confirmed the receipt of the car and cash prize, including a movie deal with an entertainment company.
Miss Edet, a 200 level Economics student at the National Open University of Nigeria, Lagos, said she was hopeful to come out from the competition with any of the titles, but confessed she did not expect to win Miss Finest Queen Nigeria crown.
“I always have faith in myself, but I didn't feel that I am going to win the overall crown. I was thinking I would only win any of the other titles. I was so shocked when I was announced overall winner. I was very happy,” said Miss Deborah Edet.
The reigning queen said the competition had changed her, and offered her an opportunity to attain her first ever milestone, while promising to use her new position to reach out to the less privilege in the society.
“The competition has changed my perspective about life. It has changed the old me, and right now I have a responsibility. I need to protect the interest of the less privilege. I will be working towards protecting the rights of a girl-child, because this is my first goal I have ever achieved,” the lass said.
She could not stop expressing gratitude to the organizers of the beauty contest, as she said the agency has given her a self-worth.
Beautiful Deborah, an indigene of Nsit Ibom local government area of the state, represented Akwa Ibom State in the competition.
Also speaking with our correspondent, Mr. Silas Bassey, the chief executive of officer of the organizing agency, said the purpose of Miss Finest Queen Nigeria is to create a platform where Nigerian girls who are very talented and brilliant could showcase their talents, promote Nigeria and foster unity, adding that “such is the reason we bring them from different states to stay in one camp so that they can marry themselves, and also work in unity.”
Bassey said he expect the girls, after the competition, to become different personalities with marked improvement in their manners, speech-making and general way of behaviors as these would make them good ambassadors of Nigeria.
He charged the government, corporate bodies and individuals to delve into talent discovery endeavours and to commit themselves to projecting the talents abound in the country.
Other winners in the beauty pageant show include, Cross River State representative, Blessing Francis, 19, winner of MFQN International crown; Evelyn Owokere, 17, a representative of Abia State who won MFQN Tourism; Ozioma Temple Emerenini, 23, from Lagos State, the winner of MFQN Ambassador title; Queen Chioma Chikezie, 24, a representative of Bayelsa State, and a winner of MFQN Top Model; Blessing Daniel, 22, an Edo State representative who emerged MFQN Miss Photogenic while Deborah Agimogim Ojong, 18, who flown the flag of Katsina State came first runner-up followed by FCT representative, Christiana Sampson, 19 and a representative of Enugu State Victoria Joseph, 21 as second and third runner-ups respectively.
